All photos will be judged anonymously by a chosen panel of professional and amateur photographers, artists, civic leaders and volunteers. Remember! You don’t have to be a pro photographer, you just need to have an eye for capturing special moments in time, and we all know our insider truth that it’s hard to take a bad photo in Rocky Point. And some of our most memorable and print-worthy photos can sometimes be taken with a disposable camera or when we’ve made happy mistakes. So look out on the world from your heart, you might be surprised what happens when you do. And remember the theme: “The Spirit of North Shore Beach.”
EVERYONE IS A WINNER! All photo entries will be shown in a rotating projected slideshow during the Opening Reception. And all non-finalist entries will also be shown in the “Honorable Mentions” section of the Photo Calendar. This is about Community, and every perspective is a way to share and celebrate all that is our home.
TWELVE FINALISTS: All finalists will be notified by email or phone and invited to attend and be presented with their awards at the Opening Reception on September 12, 2009. All twelve winning images will appear in the NSB Photo Calendar 2010.
FIRST, SECOND & THIRD PRIZE WINNERS: Winners will receive an 11×14” mounted print of winning entry, a certificate and 2 copies of the Calendar.
FIRST, SECOND & THIRD SHUTTERBUG PRIZE WINNERS: Winners will receive an 11×14” mounted print of winning entry, a certificate and 2 copies of the Calendar.
SIX HONORABLE MENTIONS: Honorable mentions will receive a certificate and 1 copy of the Calendar.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD: On the night of the awards presentation, a People’s Choice vote will award the photo that will appear on the cover of the Calendar.
TRAVELING EXHIBITS, ETC: All winners may be included in future traveling exhibits. All winners will also have their work appear on Notecards and other items available for sale by NSBPOA with full photographer credits.
