Our judges represent a diverse collective of professional photographers and artists, as well as local business owners and civic leaders from the North Shore Beach area. Thank you judges for your time and energy and your dedication to picking images that best met our criteria and fulfilled our “spirited” theme!

lindaalbo

Linda Albo (Owner, Albo Real Estate Agency & North Shore Beach Properties Owner Association President)
Linda Albo moved to Rocky Point in October of 1969. She became a Realtor in 1971 and opened Albo Real Estate, a mainstay in the North Shore Beach area, in 1979. Albo’s vast community involvement includes being a Charter member of original ABCO (Affiliated Brookhaven Civic Organization), Rocky Point Revitalization & Beautification Committee and Brookhaven Business & Community Alliance. She was instrumental in obtaining the 5,000-acre RCA property as a nature preserve, and has been the Rocky Point Tree Lighting Chairperson for 25 years. Albo became active with the North Shore Beach Property Owners Association in 1971, was elected as its first woman President in 1978, and is the current President. She organized the 1st NSBPOA Earth Day Plant-In on April 22, 1972, at which 480 Scouts planted 13,000 trees. The Plant-Ins have continued to be a very important annual tradition ever since. Other accomplishments with NSBPOA include bringing the organization back from the brink of bankruptcy in 1978/79 and rebuilding The Clubhouse after a fire in 1979. She is a vigilant watchdog of the North Shore Beach and parklands, and allows her office and staff to be used for NSBPOA members and business 7 days a week, year round. Albo is married 45 years and has one son and one grandson.

William Bevington (Executive Director, Parsons The New School for Design Institute for Information Mapping (PIIM) and Senior Partner, Spire Integrated Design)
Bevington’s long list of achievements include: Chair, Communication Design Department at Parsons The New School for Design; Senior Art Director, Pushpin Group; Peter Schmidt Studios; William Bevington Design, Inc; Rudolph de Harak & Associates; and Herb Lubalin Study Center. He is the Author of Typography: The Principles, A Basic Guide to Using Type and Co-Author of Working with Graphic Designers and Designing with Type. He has lectured at The Cooper Union, Columbia University, SUNY and Baruch College. He received a BFA from Cooper Union.

Sam Levitan (Photographer)
“After realizing that a path towards working in a cubicle wasn’t for him, Sam followed his dreams to become a professional photographer in 2002.  Since then, he has photographed numerous family and corporate events, theatrical performances, academia, and politics.  His clients run the gamut from regular folks seeking out emotional imagery documenting their most precious moments, to academic institutions like Northwestern University and Stony Brook University, to corporate clients as diverse as Scholastic, Discovery Networks, BP, Opportunity Finance Network, and TEVA Pharmaceuticals.  Every day and every shoot is a new adventure for Sam, and he is always excited to share how he sees the world with others.” www.samlevitan.com

Lisa Marie Mangino

Lisa Marie Mangino (Owner, Lisa Marie Photography, Inc.)
Since I can remember I was in love with Photography. I got my first camera at age 7 and that’s all I have ever done. I am the owner of Lisa Marie Photography, Inc. located at 106 Prince Road in Rocky Point. I Photograph Weddings, Children & all events. I also have a love for landscape & scenic photography. I have won a few photography contests, and have had some of my Photographs published in two different Photography books. I attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where I got my degree in Photography. I have been a Professional Photographer for over 12 years now and I absolutely love it! I wouldn’t change what I do for anything!

Rory Rubino

Rory Rubino (Fine Art Appraiser, Vice President Ladies Auxiliary)
Rory Rubino has been involved in the Oriental Art profession for 35 years.  She traveled extensively throughout South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. She settled in Katmandu, Nepal where she lived for several years studying and collecting Himalayan and Indian Art. In 1975 she opened Asian Antique Art Galleries in London, England, and Amsterdam, Holland. She returned to New York City, and continued as a private art dealer. In 1983 she became a certified senior art appraiser and member of the Appraisers Association of America, specializing in Himalayan, Indian, Southeast Asian, and Chinese Art. She has served on several committees of the A.A.A. She has a close working relationship with many of the Museums in NYC including The Tibet House, The Newark Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, also Sotheby’s Auction House, and Christies Auction House. She has appraised many of the important Asian Art collections including the Rockefeller collection, Lars Lindbladt collection, and Pan Asian collection. She currently lives in Rocky Point and Manhattan, N.Y. She is the Vice President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the N.S.B.P.O.A and serves on the beautification committee.

Marylou Stewart

Marylou Stewart (Photographer)
You are hard-pressed to find Marylou without a camera (or two or three!) on any given outing. Stewart received a Degree in Photographic Technology from SUNY @ Farmingdale. After years of working in Advertising, Electronics/Government, in 1983 she began her position as Photographer, Media Services at Stony Brook University. She has photographed open heart surgeries, doctoral awards ceremonies, celebrity press conferences and special events, scientific research materials, portraits for annual reports, as well as local archeological dig specimens and dinosaur bones from Madagascar for National Geographic. Marylou also attended School of Visual Arts, received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management at Empire State College and a Masters in Human Resource Management at Stony Brook University.

NatalieStiefel

Natalie Aurucci Stiefel (Rocky Point Historical Society Charter Officer)
Natalie brings a wide net of experience and vision to our panel of judges. Her impressive roster of accomplishments include: Rocky Point Historical Society Charter Officer; Long Island Wireless Historical Society Charter Officer; and Admin Asst at Thomas Wilson & Co., Inc. Lace Mill for 34 years. She is deeply involved in the preservation of historical photographs, artifacts and video. Natalie curated displays for the Long Island Wireless Historical Society at the Long Island Maritime Museum and the Long Island Science Center. She assembled archives and exhibits for Temima Gezari’s Art Gallery and has served as Historical Advisor for towns, schools and fire depts throughout Long Island. She is the author of “In the Shadow of the Radio Towers”, Rocky Point’s 20th century book and has writing credits in the Noah Hallock Cemetery Book, among other publications. She produced the Video, “A Walk To The Beach” and has a priceless collection of archival photographs and postcards of Rocky Point.

AlinaWilczynski

Alina Wilczynski (Creative Director & Wabi Sabi Artist)
In 1994, Wilczynski co-founded Jupiter Design Group, Inc., a boutique design firm located in Northern NJ. She directed award-winning marketing campaigns for clients such as The Valley Hospital, The Red Cross, M&M/Mars, Robin Hood Foundation and Queens Council on the Arts. In 2003, Wilczynski co-founded OP.LYNX, The Women’s Network of Out Professionals, a community-building endeavor created to foster professional growth for individuals and groups through panel discussions, workshops and networking socials. Wilczynski has organized events featuring women entrepreneurs and executives, noted filmmakers and playwrights, authors, artists and athletes at such venues as Museum of Modern Art, Asia Society & Museum and American Folk Art Museum. She has also shown her multi-media work in galleries throughout NYC for over 15 years and is under limited representation by Monsoon Images. www.moonkissedmedia.com
