YOUR MISSION: To capture “The Spirit of North Shore Beach”.
ELIGIBILITY: The Photo Contest is open to everyone, including North Shore Beach Property Owners Association (NSBPOA) Members, Rocky Point residents, guests from neighboring towns, as well as visitors. Young Shutterbugs (15 years of age and under) are especially invited to show us their stuff. There is no limit to the beauty of Rocky Point, therefore there is no limit to the amount of photos you may submit. Photos are not limited to the beach, sunsets or summer months. Beginners and photography hobbyists are especially welcome to enter the contest. Be creative!

OPENING NIGHT & AWARDS PRESENTATION: Saturday, September 12, 2009
ENTRY SUBMISSION: Send all materials to: NSB Photo Contest, c/o Alina & Marylou, 118 Soundview Drive, Rocky Point, NY 11778. Submissions may also be delivered by appointment. Check blog for Open Drop-Off Dates.
PHOTO QUALITY: Digital Photo Submissions must be a minimum size of 8×10” at 150dpi taken with cameras of 6 megapixels or more. Submissions from digital photos must include an 5×7”, 8×10” or 8×12” print along with the highest quality version of that photo on CD. Film/Slide Submissions must include an 8×10” or 8×12” print. In the event, your photos is a winner, you must be able to provide the original negative or slide immediately after you are notified. If the negative or slide is not provided in the time required, the entry will be disqualified. We will take the utmost care of your originals, using them only to reproduce your image for the award ceremony and will return the negative or slide promptly.
PHOTO RETURN: If you would like your photo print and/or CD returned, please indicate this on the entry form and include a self-addressed stamped envelope. All negatives/slides submitted by contest winners will be returned.
USAGE RIGHTS & MODEL RELEASES: By entering, you, the photographer grant NSB Photo Contest, by way of NSBPOA, the right to display this photo at the awards ceremony and other public traveling exhibits, as well as the right to publish the photo in the NSB Photo Calendar 2010, other promotional materials (including, but not limited to photo cards, mugs, etc) and for publicity purposes (including, but not limited to the NSBPOA website and newsletter, magazines, newspapers and television) for one year with appropriate photographer’s credits. Any additional usage of the image(s) after one year must be approved by the photographer. Profit from the sale of these materials will be used for the expressed purpose of raising funds for projects of the Beautification Committee of NSBPOA, including bluff revegitation, snow fence installation and other projects. The photographer retains all copyrights to their image(s). If your photo contains any recognizable people, you must submit a Model Release Form for each person. This form grants you the right to submit the photo to NSB Photo Contest for consideration and will grant NSB Photo Contest, by way of NSBPOA, the right to use this photo as described above without the model’s pre-approval. DONATIONS WELCOME: If you wish to donate your image to NSBPOA for its continuing environmental educational and bluff conservation efforts, please let us know.
JUDGING: Entries will be reviewed primarily on the basis of how well they exemplify the mission of capturing “The Spirit of North Shore Beach”. Subject matter, expression, creativity and composition will be considered as well. NSB Photo Contest reserves the right to eliminate photos which are not considered appropriate or of high enough quality to be enlarged to 11×14” for display.
WINNERS: All photos will be judged anonymously by a chosen panel of professional and amateur photographers, artists, civic leaders and volunteers. Twelve winners will be chosen and notified by email or phone. First, Second and Third Place Winners will be awarded an 11×14” mounted print of their winning entry. First, Second and Third Place Shutterbug Winners will be awarded a 11×14” mounted print of their winning entry. Six remaining honorable mentions will receive a certificate. All twelve winning images will appear in the NSB Photo Calendar 2010 and will receive a copy of the Calendar. On the night of the awards presentation, a People’s Choice vote will award the photo that will appear on the cover of the calendar.

The NSB Photo Contest, by way of NSBPOA and its volunteers, as well as the vendor that will reproduce the images for display disclaim any liability for loss or damage to entries and is not responsible for any lost, stolen or misdirected submissions.
LEGAL CONDITIONS: By entering, participants warrant that his or her entry materials are original, do not infringe on any third party’s rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if any third party or third party’s property appears in the photo. The NSB Photo Contest, by way of NSBPOA and its volunteers, is not responsible for any unauthorized reproductions of any submitted materials.
